Scholarship Opportunities


Distinguished Young Women of Walton County
Attention juniors:  Distinguished Young Women of Walton County is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership, and talent in young women.  Cash scholarships are awarded at the local level, and millions in college-granted scholarships are available ($1.1 billion nationally).  Local winners will advance to the state program in Winter Garden, Florida, where they give away more than $11,500 in cash tuition scholarships.

DREAMers Scholarship

The Arizona Law Offices of Snow, Carpio & Weekley are pleased to offer the S.C.W. DREAMers Scholarship. The Scholarship is open nationwide to those who will be attending college for the fall 2017 semester.  Applicants must be a High School Senior or undergraduate United States DREAMer.  Immigrants who meet certain criteria are referred to as DREAMers, as they fill the requirements of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act.  This scholarship is judged & awarded primarily on merit & need.

Honor student designation will be based on a weighted ‘cum laude’ system according to the following district-wide GPA standards:

                   4.50 and above    Summa Cum Laude (highest honors)

                   4.20 – 4.49           Magna Cum Laude (high honors)

                   4.00 – 4.19           Cum Laude (honors)


A student’s final weighted honors GPA for graduation purposes will be calculated at the end of the seventh semester for 24 credit graduates.  Honor graduates will be determined by averaging the following highest 17 credits:


                                      3.5 English credits

                                      2.5 Social Science Credits

                                      3.5 Math credits

                                      2.5 Science credits

                                      1.5 Foreign Language credits of the same language

                                      3.5 Elective credits


                                      17.0 Total Credits

Dual Enrollment Process for the Spring 2017 term...

Step #1: Take the PERT test

       Required PERT Reading Score for dual enrollment: 106 

       Required PERT Writing Score for Writing & Grammar (Lin 1670): 103-116 << this will only earn 1/2 of a credit for high school

       Required PERT Reading Score for Writing & Grammer (Lin 1670): 106

       Required PERT Writing Score for English Comp 1 (Enc1101): 103+ << this will earn 1 credit for high school

       Required PERT Reading Score for English Comp 1 (Enc1101): 106-150

       Required PERT Math Score for Intermediate Algebra (MAt1033A): 114-122 << this will only earn 1/2 of a credit for high school

       Required PERT Math Score for College Algebra (Mac1105): 123-150<< this will earn 1 credit for high school

Step #2: Get a dual enrollment form[bright yellow form] from Ms. Hoppe (front desk in the SSA office)

Step #3: Fill out the front page with your information AND fill out the back side of the form.  The areas on the back side that you will need to fill out is:

       -course number

       -reference number

       -course title

       -meeting time


**The information on the back side of the form can be found at: NWFSC  OR you can see Ms. Hoppe for the NWFSC dual enrollment binder for course offerings.

** Please bring a copy of your PERT scores for your guidance counselor.  Please do not fill in your PERT scores on the dual enrollment form, your counselor needs to fill this part of the form and sign off.

Step #4: Leave your form with Ms. Hoppe to get it signed -OR- make an appointment with your WHS guidance counselor.

              -All forms left with Ms. Hoppe prior to lunch will be ready for pick up by the end of the school day. All forms left with Ms. Hoppe  during or after lunch will be ready for pick up by the start of the following school day.


**For the Fall 2017 term registration: To avoid registration traffic and to ensure that our students will be enrolled in the dual classes in time, we are asking that if you are registering for dual enrollment for the Fall 2017 term AND want to make an appointment with a counselor (you still have the option to drop your sheet off with Ms. Hoppe and return later to pick your sheet up), please make an appointment the last two weeks of July.  Appointments will be made on a first come, first serve basis.

Step #5:  Once your form is signed and completed, take your form to NWFSC and drop it off in the registration office.

PERT Test Info and Study Resources

Why take the PERT test?   This test is a requirement if you plan on taking dual enrollment classes at NWFSC.  NWFSC usually offers this test on their campus three times a week.  You may contact NWFSC at 850-892-8100 to find out their PERT test schedule.  We offer this test at Walton High School 2-3 times a year.  Note:  We will be offering the PERT test at Walton High School once in the fall and again in the spring.
