After reading "Ten apples up on top", Mrs. Mishko's Kindergarten students were curious about gravity. They tried dropping an apple and a crayon to see which object would fall faster and also tested to see how many apples they could stack or balance on their heads. Now they know why apples fall down, instead of up....gravity, of course! Submitted by Krisy Spence.
The faculty and staff of West DeFuniak Elementary rallied around their co-worker, Dawn Barone, who is currently undergoing chemo therapy treatments. Mrs. Barone's treatments have resulted in her losing her hair. As the guidance counselor, Mrs. Barone often speaks with students about their character. Today, our faculty and staff were able to teach about compassion by wearing bandanas to support Mrs. Barone! We love you, Dawn! We're all in this together! #TeamBarone Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

What makes things move? WDE second graders used marshmallow shooters to investigate forces. Students learned that nothing moves without force and that everything can be moved if the force is strong enough. The way to put an object in motion is by pushing it or pulling it.
