Walton Middle School would like to thank our local Taco Bell and its owners, the Siners, for providing 200 breakfast burritos for eighth graders taking FCAT Science this week.  Thank you, Taco Bell and the Siners!  WMS sincerely appreciates your generosity.

By Friday, April 22nd, students in 6th and 7th grades will have an AVID information flyer stapled in their Pridebook, along with their interim grades.  Parents, please look over the flyer and determine whether or not WMS' AVID program might be a good fit for your child.  (Instructions for notifying the school of your interest are included on the flyer.)

AVID is an in-school system that prepares students for college and career success.  Students who are ideal candidates for the AVID program are those who are capable of completing college-prep curriculum but may be falling short of realizing their full potential.  WMS offers an AVID elective class, which supports students in Writing to learn, Inquiry methods, Collaborative grouping, Organization, and Academic Reading.

Statistics show that AVID students are more likely to take college-level Advanced Placement classes in high school, complete their college eligibility requirements, and be accepted into four-year colleges than their peers.  AVID also helps ensure that students, once accepted to college, possess the high-level skills they need for college and career success.  Essentially, AVID prepares students for bright futures.
