Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated September 15 to October 15 and honors & recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino people in the United States. The observation began as a one-week celebration in 1968. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan changed it to a month-long celebration. This was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.

The month also celebrates the independence days of several Spanish-speaking countries including Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Chile.

Walton High School's Spanish Club would like to invite everyone to celebrate and honor Hispanic Heritage Month by wearing their country’s or favorite country’s traditional clothes, sport jerseys, or colors on Monday, September 16.
