Based on information obtained from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the DeFuniak Springs Police Department, the individual involved in the armed robbery on Highway 83 is no longer believed to be in the area. The Walton County School District has been advised by law enforcement that it is safe to resume normal school day operations. As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We appreciate the continued support of our local law enforcement agencies and the support of our community.

Walton High School and the WISE Center are currently on heightened security due to a report of an armed robbery on Highway 83. Out of an abundance of caution, all students and activities have been brought inside. There is no indication of a direct threat to our campus at this time. Our team is closely monitoring the situation and taking every step necessary to keep students and staff safe. The well-being of our Walton family is always our highest priority, and we appreciate your patience and support as we continue to put safety first.
