The girls golf team had a great season! โ›ณ๏ธ Our girls competed with 11 other schools in the district tournament and finished 4th as a team. Adelyn Chambers led the Braves and finished 9th overall out of 68 girls. She was followed by Rhiannon Fountain (13th) and Chelsea Andrews (17th). Julie Laviolette and Lacey Alford both tied for 30th.

While they didn't advance as a team, they did have two girls make it individually due to their consistent play throughout the season. Seniors Fountain and Andrews represented Walton at the Regional Tournament in Jacksonville yesterday. Out of 66 girls that were invited, they finished in the middle of the pack.

โ€œItโ€™s a moment of pride for our students who have worked so hard. I have been the principal of Walton High School for 5 years, and we have improved every year. Our kids have gotten on board with the culture of taking rigorous classes and making sure they are prepared for college and career. This award goes to show that their hard work is definitely paying off,โ€ said Brianna Leavins, the principal of Walton High School.

We couldn't have said it better, Ms. Leavins!

This week was a busy week for our Walton FFA members! We had several students show animals at the Walton County Fair.

๐Ÿท Ashton Black, Finley Kelley, and Fallon Ray showed off their market swine projects on Tuesday night. These students purchased their animals at the end of the school year last year and spent the summer raising and training their animals. Students compete in two different shows with their swine projects: showmanship and the market swine show. During showmanship, students demonstrate their ability to control and work with their animal, and they demonstrate their knowledge on raising a market swine. Our three FFA members did an outstanding job at the market swine show on Tuesday!

๐Ÿ… Fallon Rayโ€™s pig won Grand Champion
๐Ÿ… Ashton Blackโ€™s pig placed 9th overall
๐Ÿ… Finley Kelley placed 3rd in showmanship

๐Ÿฐ Hayden Arnold, Marlie Cortes, Carleigh Davis, Bradley Holimon, Athena Horton, and Rhylie Upton showed our Ag departmentโ€™s rabbits at the Walton County Fair on Wednesday night. During rabbit showmanship, exhibitors must demonstrate their knowledge on all things rabbits. Exhibitors must judge their rabbit from nose to tail in front of an official rabbit judge. Our FFA members did an amazing job showing off both their skills and knowledge on Wednesday night!

๐Ÿ… Rhylie Upton placed 2nd in showmanship
๐Ÿ… Hayden Arnold placed 3rd in showmanship

Congratulations to our FFA members who showed their animals at the Walton County Fair this week!

We'd also like to give a shout-out to Dina Harris for earning 1st place in poultry showmanship; 2nd place chicken; and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons in youth canning! ๐ŸŽ‰

On Friday, October 10, four of our FFA members attended the rabbit show at the Panhandle Youth Expo in Marianna. ๐Ÿ‡ Rhylie Upton showed our agriculture program's Dutch rabbit (Zeus); Hayden Arnold showed our Holland Lop (Jacob); Carleigh Davis showed another Dutch (Daisy); and Marlie Cortes showed another Dutch (Sandstorm).

For showmanship, FFA members must examine their rabbits in front of the rabbit judge. The members are looking at the structure and health of the rabbit during their evaluation. They must also show their knowledge of all things rabbits by answering questions asked by the judges. The questions can range from the breed and age of the rabbit to how to identify common diseases in rabbits.

Hayden was named the Senior showmanship champion, and Rhylie was named the Reserve Champion in showmanship! ๐ŸŽ‰ It was an awesome show day for our FFA members!

Several students participated in FBLAโ€™s monthly โ€œDress for Successโ€ initiative today. These students stood out due to their professional attire today, but they stand out ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ฒ by the leadership qualities they exhibit. โ€œDress for Successโ€ is more than just a dress code โ€” Itโ€™s an intentional step toward building confidence, professionalism, and a strong culture of future business leadership.

FBLA is seeking opportunities to serve our community through community service. Please contact Mr. Warren at anthony.warren@walton.k12.fl.us for more information or to discuss how these exemplary students can get involved.

We'd like to thank Chris Hollyfield for speaking to some of our students today! His motivational presentations focus on bullying and encourage everyone to strive to be the best they can be...and to lift others up to do the same. He overcame tremendous challenges to pursue his dreams and became a WWE wrestler, actor, author, and business owner despite the obstacles in his path.
