Walton High School receives national recognition! ๐
https://www.wjhg.com/2025/10/23/high-schools-walton-county-receive-national-recognition/โItโs a moment of pride for our students who have worked so hard. I have been the principal of Walton High School for 5 years, and we have improved every year. Our kids have gotten on board with the culture of taking rigorous classes and making sure they are prepared for college and career. This award goes to show that their hard work is definitely paying off,โ said Brianna Leavins, the principal of Walton High School.
We couldn't have said it better, Ms. Leavins!

This week was a busy week for our Walton FFA members! We had several students show animals at the Walton County Fair.
๐ท Ashton Black, Finley Kelley, and Fallon Ray showed off their market swine projects on Tuesday night. These students purchased their animals at the end of the school year last year and spent the summer raising and training their animals. Students compete in two different shows with their swine projects: showmanship and the market swine show. During showmanship, students demonstrate their ability to control and work with their animal, and they demonstrate their knowledge on raising a market swine. Our three FFA members did an outstanding job at the market swine show on Tuesday!
๐
Fallon Rayโs pig won Grand Champion
๐
Ashton Blackโs pig placed 9th overall
๐
Finley Kelley placed 3rd in showmanship
๐ฐ Hayden Arnold, Marlie Cortes, Carleigh Davis, Bradley Holimon, Athena Horton, and Rhylie Upton showed our Ag departmentโs rabbits at the Walton County Fair on Wednesday night. During rabbit showmanship, exhibitors must demonstrate their knowledge on all things rabbits. Exhibitors must judge their rabbit from nose to tail in front of an official rabbit judge. Our FFA members did an amazing job showing off both their skills and knowledge on Wednesday night!
๐
Rhylie Upton placed 2nd in showmanship
๐
Hayden Arnold placed 3rd in showmanship
Congratulations to our FFA members who showed their animals at the Walton County Fair this week!
We'd also like to give a shout-out to Dina Harris for earning 1st place in poultry showmanship; 2nd place chicken; and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons in youth canning! ๐

On Friday, October 10, four of our FFA members attended the rabbit show at the Panhandle Youth Expo in Marianna. ๐ Rhylie Upton showed our agriculture program's Dutch rabbit (Zeus); Hayden Arnold showed our Holland Lop (Jacob); Carleigh Davis showed another Dutch (Daisy); and Marlie Cortes showed another Dutch (Sandstorm).
For showmanship, FFA members must examine their rabbits in front of the rabbit judge. The members are looking at the structure and health of the rabbit during their evaluation. They must also show their knowledge of all things rabbits by answering questions asked by the judges. The questions can range from the breed and age of the rabbit to how to identify common diseases in rabbits.
Hayden was named the Senior showmanship champion, and Rhylie was named the Reserve Champion in showmanship! ๐ It was an awesome show day for our FFA members!

Several students participated in FBLAโs monthly โDress for Successโ initiative today. These students stood out due to their professional attire today, but they stand out ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฒ by the leadership qualities they exhibit. โDress for Successโ is more than just a dress code โ Itโs an intentional step toward building confidence, professionalism, and a strong culture of future business leadership.
FBLA is seeking opportunities to serve our community through community service. Please contact Mr. Warren at

We'd like to thank Chris Hollyfield for speaking to some of our students today! His motivational presentations focus on bullying and encourage everyone to strive to be the best they can be...and to lift others up to do the same. He overcame tremendous challenges to pursue his dreams and became a WWE wrestler, actor, author, and business owner despite the obstacles in his path. Words to live by - "Be Different To Make A Difference."

Last night, Carleigh Davis competed in the District Farm Bureau Speech Contest. Participants had to answer this yearโs question: "What obstacles threaten Florida agriculture's economic viability, and how do we address them?" Carleigh has worked hard with both her leadership and FFA advisors to prepare for her speech. After several long weeks of preparing and practicing for this contest, Carleigh placed 2nd in the district! ๐ We are proud of the speech that Carleigh presented and the effort she put into her presentation. She represented both Walton FFA and the Walton Leadership Class very well. Congratulations, Carleigh! We are so proud of you! ๐๐ฉต๐

Our boys golf team is off to a great start! They just competed & improved their record to 5-0! โณ๏ธ๐ In the last competition the team brought in a record low score dating back to 2010. They are currently ranked #4 in 1A public schools and are on pace to qualify for the 1A Championship for the second year in row! Walton finished 4th place last year in that tournament and will look to improve on that this year. GO BRAVES!

Yesterday was National Teach Ag Day! Our agriscience students spent the day participating in the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) national Breakout Challenge. The challenge wasn't easy. It combined critical thinking skills with inquiry-style challenges to lead students through a virtual breakout room where they must figure out the answer to one puzzle to get access to the next. Along the way each student learned how their unique blend of gifts, grit, and talent could benefit them in a career as an agricultural educator. Our students did an amazing job working together and communicating to complete this task. Happy Teach Ag Day to all agricultural educators!

We'd like to give a shout-out to our tech champion, Ms. Liezel Young! We all know technology is great...when it works. When it doesn't, we call Ms. Young, who quickly and efficiently resolves the issues. And she manages to do it with a smile on her face and a genuine eagerness to help. We're beyond blessed and thankful to have her as a part of our Braves family.
Thank you, Ms. Young, for your tireless efforts to keep our tech running smoothly...and for reminding us to turn it off and back on. ๐
