On September 9, Mr. Ed O'Daniels visited with our Agriscience Foundations students. Mr. O'Daniels shared his experience as an ecologist with the FWC (Fish & Wildlife Conservation). Our students learned about the different aspects of ecology and how to prepare for a career in ecology...and they even got to pet a bear! We'd like to thank Mr. O'Daniels for visiting with our agriculture students!
Thirty new Key members were welcomed into the club by their big brothers and sisters today. We're all excited to have them in our club and see what fun activities this year has in store!
Math is an integral part of our everyday lives…even in agriculture! Today, our Agriscience Foundations classes began their Agricultural Mechanics unit by learning the values of each line on a ruler, all the way down to the 1/16th! Students then tested their skills by finding different items around school to measure. Understanding the different measurements is crucial to successful projects. Our Agriscience Foundations students will use the skills learned in this unit on various projects in the coming months, including the building of our chicken coop!
Anchor Club welcomed 27 new members today! All new members should join the Anchor Remind (@anchordfs). Initiation will be held on September 12. The first meeting will be on October 4 at 7:45 a.m. in the LMC.

Congratulations to our golf team for their win over Marianna yesterday! This was their first match of the season, and they won by 21 strokes!
We'd like to give a shout-out to Mr. Warren's AVID class! They're working on the first of many tutorials. By the end of the process, these students will be able to apply their skills & learning in their academic classes.
It’s time for Wednesdays at Walton! Students were rewarded with a t-shirt today if they could recite our school’s mission - 100% of WHS graduates will be able to enroll in a Florida college.
The other pictures are from our English department - Mrs. Cramer, Ms. McLaney, and Mrs. Lindsey.
Mrs. Warren’s 9th grade AVID students worked together to build a cup pyramid using a STEM exercise that encouraged teamwork and problem solving. This activity was a great way to end a week of working hard and getting organized for classes this new school year!
We’re so excited to have a new Computer Fundamentals class at Walton High this year! These students are off to a great start!
Some of our 2025 seniors got up super early this morning to enjoy a "Senior Sunrise" on the football field!
Our Lady Braves volleyball teams kicked off the 2024 season with their “Olympic Overnight” on Friday! The athletes participated in team building activities & goal setting and competed in “Olympic Events” for gold, silver, and bronze medals! 🏅 It was a fun and productive event, and we’re looking forward to great results this season!
Official school grades for the 2023-2024 school year were released for the state of Florida today, and we’re beyond excited to announce that Walton High School earned an “A”! This is our second consecutive year as an “A” school, and our score is the highest we’ve ever received (since the implementation of the current school grading formula in 2015).
This achievement is due to the tireless efforts of our students, parents, staff, and community, so we’d like to take this opportunity to send a huge CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to everyone that made this unprecedented accomplishment a reality.
Last week, some of our FFA members attended the Florida FFA State Convention and Expo in Orlando, Florida. Our members spent the week connecting with FFA members from across the state. They had the opportunity to attend workshops that covered a variety of topics ranging from how to properly pot plants to leadership development as an FFA member. Our members attended sessions with keynote speakers including Governor Ron DeSantis, the Commissioner of Agriculture (Wilton Simpson), President of the Florida Farm Bureau (Jeb Smith), and Dr. Kevin O'Farrell (Department of Education). Walton’s FFA members represented their chapter well and had a great time doing it!
Today marked the end of another EPIC school year! The buses pulled out a few minutes ago, and (as you can imagine) everyone was all smiles. Our bus drivers honked and waved as they were pulling out of the loop for the last time. We hope everyone has a great, safe summer! 😎 Remember to always BE BRAVE!
Mr. Patrick's AP U.S. history students joined him before school this morning for his annual breakfast tradition. Needless to say, they were all ready & psyched for their AP exam this morning!
We implemented an attendance incentive program from March 25 to April 30 to emphasize to students that EVERY DAY COUNTS. Students with two or less absences earned a field trip to Dave & Buster's in Panama City Beach today.
While we have no doubt the students had fun on the trip, we hope they also learned the importance of showing up & working hard every day. As Woody Allen said, "Eighty percent of success is showing up." Keep working hard, Braves, and success will follow.
Students from Maude Sanders Elementary recently visited Walton High for their final mentoring session. They shared snacks, played games, and were given certificates to recognize their participation in the Barbara Bush ReadSquad Program.
Day 1 of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week: Staff members were treated to a yummy breakfast this morning! We'd like to thank our administrators & lunchroom staff for providing a delicious start to our day. Students dressed up like their favorite teachers today. Tomorrow is "Our Teachers Shine" Day, so we encourage everyone to dress in neon/bright colors to celebrate our amazing Braves staff.
Students recently participated in Art In The Park, an event coordinated by Lt. Mark Wendel and Ted Toedte of the Crime Prevention Division. This program aims to deter graffiti by painting murals on buildings.
All art students at WHS were given the assignment to design a mural based on the theme of "outdoors." Four outstanding art students were chosen. Each student and their crew spent their entire Saturday drawing and painting their murals on the walls of the building at Wee Care Park. Braelyn Burch painted the crab at the beach; Casidy Nidy painted the dolphin, orange slice, and alligator; Evdokia Watkins painted the field of flowers; and Mya Graves painted the flamingos at sunset.
The next time you visit the Wee Care Park, take a moment to enjoy these students' amazing artwork!
