Announcement

Parents and Guardians:

Yesterday, Walton County School District (WCSD) made a post about a school threat made outside of the State of Florida. The threat was reposted by a WCSD student, leading to an investigation. Information contained within the threat was not credible and does not impact our schools in any way. This morning, rumors were circulating among students regarding school threats. These rumors are not specific to Walton County, they are occurring in neighboring school districts as well. Through investigation, we have found no specifics or credibility regarding any rumors and feel these rumors originate from the information previously mentioned.

I addressed all students and staff this morning via the intercom system to ensure students understood the origin of the threat rumors and that no threats have been made against WHS students. Throughout the day, students have had opportunities to ask questions and clarify any information they may have received. Students were reminded to report suspicious behavior to school staff or through FortifyFL. All students can access FortifyFL, an anonymous reporting application, through their ClassLink accounts. Safety is our number one priority. My goal each day is to get your children home to you safely.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 850-892-1270, ext. 4410, or on my cell phone at 850-520-1929.

Sincerely,
Brianna Leavins
Principal, WHS
